In the last few months since his decision to join the Golden State Warriors, Kevin Durant has caught flak on all ends. There has been an endless amount of jabs taken in his direction. Former Houston Rockets star guard Tracy McGrady was at it once again criticizing the seven-time All-Star on ESPN’s First Take.
No, not at all. I like parity. I like competition. I like for the superstars to be spread out and going against each other. I would say that Kevin Durant going to the Golden State Warriors is a no-no. I don’t understand that.
McGrady had voiced his displeasure with the move back in July and hasn’t changed his stance since then. He has taken the stance that many have as he doesn’t like the fact that it takes away the Oklahoma City Thunder as one of the top-tier teams in the league. In essence, it creates less competition in the Western Conference with the Warriors now fielding the overwhelming favorites for next season’s title and beyond.
That said, Golden State will continue to be must-see basketball on a nightly basis for the NBA. What is also not being talked about enough is that it has created an extreme amount of pressure on them to follow through on that hype. Anything short of an NBA title will be a bust.
