Following the shocking result to the main event match at Survivor Series this past weekend, Goldberg announced on Raw that he would be entering the Royal Rumble match with his eyes on a championship shot. This has created much buzz over social media about the news. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, it looks like his opponent will also be in the mix come next January.
Multiple sources confirm that Brock Lesnar has been booked for the Alamodome on January 29th for the Rumble, which only makes sense now that his Survivor Series opponent is in it as well.
We broke the story over the weekend, and Goldberg confirmed last night on Raw that he’d be in the 30-man match. He also said that he’s got another title run left in the tank.
It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given the type of beatdown that Lesnar received from Goldberg. Joining him in the Royal Rumble will give him a shot to seek revenge. There are already reports that indicate Lesnar could be the one that prevents him from winning the match. This would set up another match at WrestleMania 33 possibly in a title match.
There are various possibilities that the WWE could go with this angle having both superstars compete in the event. The fact that Goldberg has continued to remain involved in the company has brought back many older generation wrestling fans. It’s something that has been a huge boost to the WWE that they have been lacking over the last few years.
