Anthony Davis Suffers An Ankle Injury, Won’t Be Back For Season Opener

Pelicans fans will be disappointed after Wednesday’s pre season match up against the Houston Rockets in Beijing, China after news came out that Anthony Davis suffered an ankle injury.

Only 6 minutes into the game, Davis stepped on Rockets center Nene’s foot, throwing him off balance and causing him to sprain his ankle.

With their season opener scheduled for October 26th, it’s unlikely that Davis will play, as the coaches will likely want to rest him to make sure he doesn’t suffer further injuries. Davis is returning from a knee injury he suffered last March that sidelined him for the last 21 games of the season. This is his third straight year suffering an injury in the league, which is disappointed given his immense talents.

The team performed terribly without him last season, so fans will hope that this is his only injury problem for the season. The offense has been retooled, and the Pelicans acquired Buddy Heild with their 6th overall pick, so the sooner Davis can get back, the better.
