Last month, the WWE made history with the first-ever women’s match inside Hell in a Cell. It saw Sasha Banks lose the Raw Women’s title to the Charlotte in a physical fight. In a recent interview with Tom Feaheny, Bayley discussed the history making match.
“It’s something we all wanted from the beginning from the day we met, that was our goal, to put women’s wrestling on the main stage, even bigger than what it was before. I can see women’s wrestling main eventing Wrestlemania one day.”
It was indeed a monumental moment for the women’s division in the WWE that was a huge step forward. Women’s wrestling has taken a much more serious route over the last several months with the inclusion of plenty of talent such as the Four Horsewomen on the main roster. What this does is make the long-term goal of main eventing WrestleMania more realistic.
Bayley could play a major part in that as she is set to become involved in a feud with Charlotte in the coming weeks. This could be her shot to put her mark on the women’s division with her first title reign. More importantly, there is a tremendous opportunity for women’s wrestling to gain more much-needed credibility.
