The Cavs have had all summer to celebrate their historic NBA Championship, but there’s still one more stop on the tour.
Next Thursday, the Cavs will take a break from basketball to meet with the leader of the free world, President Barack Obama. Obama and the White House staff will honor the Cavs for their charitable work in the Cleveland community, though as an avid basketball fan, Obama will probably want to talk about the championship too.
After the Cavs won, Obama gave head coach Tyronn Lue a call to congratulate him on the win.
“You should be proud of yourself,” Obama told Lue after the Cavs won the title. “You did a great job on this and I really do think you brought cohesion, steadiness and a focus to the team. It really showed itself. You should feel good about what you did. Pretty good for a first year coach.”
