Through the first couple of weeks of the season, one of the surprises in the league has been the play of DeMar DeRozan. He is currently leading the league in scoring. In light of that, DeRozan has a message for his opponents.
“There’s nothing I haven’t seen,” DeRozan told Chris Mannix of The Vertical. “I know what teams are going to throw at me. No one is going to dictate what I do.”
There’s much reason for this spike in confidence in his offensive ability as he’s averaging 34.1 points in the first seven games played. This includes 30-plus points in all but one game with two 40-point outings. His five straight 30-point outing has been the best start to a season since Michael Jordan did it in six consecutive games.
What has been most impressive during this span is that he has been able to get to his spots on the floor. He’s currently shooting 53.3 percent from the field while getting to the free throw line 10 times a game. It will be interesting to see how long DeRozan can keep this up.
