One of the biggest pleasant surprises through the first couple of weeks this season has been the play of Toronto Raptors star guard DeMar DeRozan. He has been on a blazing offensive start that has him currently leading the league in scoring. It has also put him in rare company in NBA history.

DeRozan is also the first player since Michael Jordan in the last 30 years to score 30 or more points in eight of the first nine games of the season. He has been able to do this by currently shooting a career-high 52.8 percent from the field with getting to the free throw line 10.0 times per game. DeRozan has been able to dictate the way he plays on his own terms.
It doesn’t appear that he will see a drop in production any time soon as he’s playing with an extremely high level of confidence. DeRozan has credited this improved offensive output has been due to his time with Team USA. It will be interesting to see how long he keep up this level of play.
