The last couple of years, Derrick Rose has seen a significant drop in his level of production on the court. Rose hasn’t been the same player over the last couple of years. In a recent interview with ESPN.com, Rose voiced supreme confidence that he can regain his elite status.
“Yeah, but I know I am,” he said. “That’s no surprise to me. It’s only a matter of time until I put it together. All the hard work I put in, everything how I dedicated my whole life to this game, what I sacrificed. It’s only a few that did it and that’s doing it. So it’s all about just putting it together.”
The 27-year-old clearly believes that he can perform at an elite level despite two major knee injuries that slowed him over the last couple of years. That said, with more time behind him from these devastating injuries he could possibly regain the same explosion he had prior to them. Rose will have a prime opportunity to show that with the New York Knicks this upcoming season.
He will be featured in a prominent role and will have every chance to showcase his ability on the court. If he can capture any essence of the player he once was, the Knicks could become the Cleveland Cavaliers’ biggest challenge in the Eastern Conference. The stage is set for Rose, it’s just a matter of him taking advantage of it.
