It has been a few months since Derrick Rose was dealt by the Chicago Bulls to the New York Knicks. It was a complete shocker that many are still surprised that the organization went through with. According to K.C. Jones of the Chicago Tribune, it’s something that caught him off-guard by all means.
“It was surprising. Coming from my hometown and just the fact of being traded, it’s a process that sucks.”
Although Rose was shocked by the move, the fact of the matter is that he wasn’t performer like the player he once was. He was coming off arguably his most inconsistent season and struggled to be a dependable contributor. There was also a growing doubt that he would return to the player he was prior to his two knee injuries.
That said, the Knicks made the move based on that hope he could return to elite form. Rose has continually voiced confidence that he can, but something that has yet to be seen. The former league MVP now has the opportunity ahead of him to make that come to fruition to show that the Bulls made a mistake.
