The Derrick Rose legal saga seemed to find an end last month when Rose was found not guilty by a jury in Los Angeles. Unfortunately for Knicks fans, it’s now clear that the story is far from over.
Rose’s ex-girlfriend filed a $21.5 million lawsuit against Rose and three of his friends after an alleged gang rape that occurred three years ago. With no evidence against Rose and several inconsistencies in the accuser’s story, Rose was acquitted on all charges. His accuser was ordered to pay $70,000 in damages for legal fees Rose incurred, but claimed she couldn’t afford them. Now Rose is suing for that money.

Courtney Palko, Rose’s attorney, issued the following statement clarifying why they are pursuing those damages:
Her “aggressive pursuit of false claims in this court and in the media have taken an enormous, costly, and irreparable toll on Mr. Rose and his public image and reputation.”
