The Los Angeles Clippers heading into their preseason had the tall task of taking on the revamped Golden State Warriors. It was an absolute drumming with the Warriors beating them by an astounding 45 points. Following the game, head coach Doc Rivers had a straight forward response to why his team was blown out.
“I thought we showed up to play an exhibition game, and they came to play a game” – Doc Rivers postgame

Although no starter for the Clippers played more than 22 minutes, it was an absolutely embarrassing performance. J.J. Redick, Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers combined to shot 1-for-22 in the game. Meanwhile, Klay Thompson scored 30 points on 10-of-14 shooting including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc.
It’s clear that the Clippers are a few steps below the Warriors, who looked like an unbeatable team. The only solace that Los Angeles can take is that this was the first game of the preseason and they will have plenty of time to work out their issues. That said, this was a night that the Clippers want to quickly move on from and forget.
