With his WWE career seemingly going nowhere fast, Dolph Ziggler may have resparked it by winning a title vs. career match against The Miz for the intercontinental title earlier this month. It has put him back in the big picture with the company. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard, Ziggler opened up about his next goal with the WWE.
“If you don’t want to be the best or have the company on your back with everyone relying on you, then you shouldn’t be here. But this is my chance along the way to make that IC title mean that much more. This is the chance to make people about more than just the title scenario on a show, which I think is already a great show.
The 36-year-old has a chance to really take off again in the WWE after floundering over the last few years. He had seen himself step away from the main spotlight after his brief world heavyweight title reign in 2013. This will mark his fifth time holding the Intercontinental championship, and it could very well be his most important.
The feud that he has with The Miz has worked wonders for him and helped put on great performances in the ring that have many re-engaged with his on-air character. He has shown the talent at times to be a top-billed superstar but has yet to truly capitalize on it. This could be the push that he needs to fulfill that as the intercontinental champion.
