Dolph Ziggler has risen to prominence in professional wrestling world over the years with WWE. Much of this has been due to Vince McMahon’s willingness to run with him as one of its top-billed superstars. In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Ziggler had some interesting words about his boss.
“I have always been told it’s important to have a relationship with Vince but at the same time it is difficult. The one or two days a week you would see him he is extremely busy getting the shows ready for the live audience, so if you find two or three minutes you’d better have something good to say as he is a workaholic and you are eating into his time. He is a little scary at first but the more you talk to him, the more you deliver in the ring and the more he can count on you [the more time he has for you]. For years I have taken the time to say hello and bring up an idea and he is usually very receptive. He has started to trust me a lot more.”
It’s safe to speculate that things weren’t necessarily on the best of terms early on during his tenure. However, as his competed in more matches over the years Ziggler has earned McMahon’s trust. This is something that has been the case for many wrestlers before him.
Although the last couple of years haven’t exactly been the greatest, the 36-year-old is still one of the WWE’s best in-ring talents that put that on full display in his feud with The Miz. His fifth reign as the Intercontinental champion could be his most important as it could be what convince McMahon to keep him on long-term. Ziggler has in front of him a prime chance to respark his professional wrestling career.
