Dwight Howard has started the year strong with his new team, the Atlanta Hawks. So far, he is averaging 15.2 points per game on 63% shooting. He’s helped the team to an 8-2 record and they’re currently sitting in 2nd place in the East. It appears that his off season decision to leave the Rockets for the Hawks was a good one.
The entire NBA watched in the offseason to see where Howard landed. Obviously, his mother was very concerned with his destination and he kept her involved throughout the process. At one point, Howard jokingly told his mother that he was going to play for the Utah Jazz and she did not respond well:

Ouch! Jazz fans shouldn’t feel offended despite her reaction. It turns out she was upset because she wanted Howard to play for Atlanta, her hometown team. She was excited at the prospect of Howard living in the same city as her again and not upset specifically about him playing with Utah.
