Earlier this week, Goldberg made his triumphant return to the WWE by appearing on Raw to accept the challenge to face Brock Lesnar. Many in and around the business are oozing with excitement. In the latest episode of “Bischoff on Wrestling” podcast, former WCW owner Eric Bischoff also voiced giddiness about his former superstar’s comeback to the ring.
“I have two words for Bill Goldberg, “Thank You.” Thank you for bringing the passion, the credibility, the believability and just the, no pun intended, raw emotion that I think people have missed for a long time. That’s one of the things about Bill Goldberg is that he is a very raw, real, emotional, intense person. There’s no acting going on there. That’s really who he is. Believe me, I can tell you from past experiences. (Laughs) For Bill to go out there and get the reaction that he got and bring the emotion. You saw the tears. You saw his eyes well up. It was just such a refreshing thing to see and I am just happy for Bill. I am happy for wrestling fans who got a chance to be a part of it. I am really excited to see where it goes. Thank you Bill Goldberg.”
Bischoff isn’t alone in this department as Goldberg gave Raw a huge ratings jump in his first appearance in over a decade. There are obviously millions happy about him returning to the program and providing some buzz that hasn’t been there in quite some time. Goldberg is a blast from the past that the WWE needs.
He has a character and persona that is made for the business that is unmatched by nearly all the superstars in today’s generation. For him to have that type of connection with the fans after being away from that long just shows the caliber of superstar he still is. Hopefully, this all equates to an intriguing match between Goldberg and Lesnar next month at Survivor Series.
