The Miami Heat are off to slow start to the season currently holding one of the worst records in the NBA. This has put them front and center in the rumor mill with much of the attention around the possible availability of Hassan Whiteside. According to the Miami Herald’s Manny Navarro, the Heat have responded to that trade chatter.
Shopping is one thing and listening to offers is another, and a Heat spokesman made it clear Tuesday night Miami isn’t actively looking to trade it’s $98 million center. But the spokesman also didn’t deny the team isn’t at least listening.
This isn’t exactly a solidified answer that Miami will keep Whiteside. It gives off the vibe that they are open to moving him if the right deal comes along. More than anything else, it leaves the door open to him being moved.
Although Whiteside is one of the league’s most productive big men, he hasn’t exactly stood tall in the newfound role as the face of the franchise. There have still been issues from time to time with his maturity. Until he shows major improvement in that aspect, his name is going to remain in the rumors.
