Since Goldberg’s surprising defeat of Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, there has been plenty of buzz regarding his future. It fueled much speculation about what could be next for him on the agenda in the ring beyond the Royal Rumble. In light of that, WrestlingNewsWorld.com is reporting that the result of the match at Survivor Series may have had a huge bearing on him staying on board longer.
Apparently the way Vince got around Goldberg’s reluctance is by coming up with a match where Bill didn’t have to wrestle at all, followed up by a limited appearance in the Royal Rumble, where Goldberg can have up to 29 other guys do the work for him. The real match will be saved for Wrestlemania, after which point Goldberg can decide whether his body is up for more.
Much of this sound like a logical explanation as Goldberg hadn’t wrestled in a match in nearly 13 years. There was no telling in how his body would react in the ring against one of the most physical wrestlers in WWE history at the age of 49. This was both the safe and smart route to further feed off the buzz of his return to the company.
That said, it appears it’s set in stone that he will be wrestling at WrestleMania 33 likely against Lesnar. It will be interesting to see what transpires at the Royal Rumble as it’s expected that he will be one of the last competitors left in the match. All in all, the return of Goldberg has been an extremely entertaining experience for wrestling fans.
