In The Face Of Declining NFL Ratings, The Cowboys Deliver An Historic Thanksgiving Miracle

While NFL ratings continue to decline throughout the season, the league can always count on Thanksgiving Day games to boost ratings. This year didn’t disappoint, and actually set a record.

The match up between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington was watched by 35.1 million viewers, according to FOX. That’s higher than every basketball game in NBA history, except for Michael Jordan’s final game during the 1998 Finals. It beat every World Series baseball game in the last 80 years except Game 7 of the Cubs/Cleveland finals this year. It even beat the Academy Awards, the most watched non-sporting event on television.

It’s an unprecedented number for a regular season game, and it proves that while ratings may be down, football is still king.
