With Kobe Bryant finally settled into retirement, stories about him around the league have been a constant over the last several months. It has only further built on his legacy as one of the all-time greats. Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas added to that prestigious with his own story.

Thomas a first-hand experience of what Bryant could do on the court that made him so lethal offensively. During the latter portion of his career, he was highly effective in backing down opponents and knocking down shots over them. It’s not surprising to hear that is exactly what he did to Thomas, especially with his stature standing at 5-foot-9.
That said, Thomas was a bit star struck to play against one of his biggest idols. It had to be a surreal moment to realize that he is guarding Bryant. It’s just another story that further extenuates the type of player that he was during his heyday.
