The Celtics have yet to find their footing early in the season. With a 3-3 record, the team is showing glimpses of promise but still lacking in some aspects. After they suffered their worst loss of the season to the Denver Nuggets, head coach Brad Stevens ripped the team’s defensive performance. All Star Point Guard Isaiah Thomas joined in.
When asked about defense in the post game interview, Thomas offered a tough and honest assessment of the problem.
Isaiah Thomas: "We're not as good as we thought we were. When we don't come out with a sense of urgency, we're not a good team."

Usually Thomas stays positive in these kinds of interviews, but he was apparently too frustrated to contain it after the game. He specifically called out the defense as the biggest problem.
At this point, we’re all talk [on defense]”
Hopefully some relief will come when newly acquired All Star center Al Horford returns from concussion protocol. He was an anchor for the Hawks defense for several seasons, and the Celtics will certainly rely on his abilities in the paint to shut down scoring from their opponents.
