In the last several weeks, James Ellsworth has taken up a prominent role on Smackdown Live. There has been a major push from the WWE universe to keep him on board full-time. In a recent interview with The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling, Ellsworth addressed the situation surrounding his future with the company.
“I do hear stuff but I don’t count my chickens before they hatch, but I don’t know what the future holds. I hope it is bright and I’m having the time of my life and am thankful for every opportunity that World Wrestling Entertainment gives me and I am learning so much just being there and it has been such a blast and everything has been going so well that I hope to be there in the WWE as James Ellsworth until I’m about 75 years old.”
There’s no doubt that Ellsworth would welcome a contract with the WWE. It’s just a matter of Vince McMahon buying into his stock as a long-term profit. He was worked well as a main component to the feud between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose over the last few weeks.
Ellsworth has also been profitable with his retail sales with his shirt becoming a major buy in the WWE store. McMahon is likely going to ride the ship as long as it goes and make a decision from there. That said, things look like they’re headed toward Ellsworth getting a deal at some point.
