A few months ago, Kurt Angle shed some light on his past addiction to painkillers that he revealed he took up to 65 pills a day. It’s something that completely got out of hand and nearly cost him his wrestling career. In a recent interview with the Steve Austin Show, he finally opened up to as why he decided to go to rehab, according to Wrestling Inc.
“Well, this is crazy. This is what an addict does. I had an attorney call me and say, ‘listen, you need to go to rehab’ and I said, ‘well, why?’ He said, ‘it’ll help with your DUI case,’ I said, ‘oh yeah, that’s a good idea! Yeah, I’ll go to rehab,’ hoping they’ll drop my DUI. I didn’t go because I thought I had a problem. I went because I thought it would help my DUI case. When I got there, I realized I had a really serious problem. You learn so much in rehab.”
Although it was done in order to help his court case, it was a reason nonetheless that worked out for him in the long run. It’s something that has helped straighten out his life to the point where he’s happy wrestling on the independent circuit scene and expecting his fifth child. He could also possibly return back to the WWE at some point in the near future.
Angle is well respected in the professional wrestling community and the fact that he has gotten his life all sorted out is encouraging news. For awhile, it looked like he was headed down the wrong path. With everything in order, he could see a rejuvenation in his professional wrestling career.
