After losing three starters in the last two weeks, the Denver Nuggets are spread thin. Today they announced plans to alleviate that situation with at least one free agency signing.
After dropping Jarnell Stokes late last night, the Vertical is now reporting that the Nuggets will sign free agent Alonzo Gee. Gee will help fill the role that Gary Harris occupied before getting sidelined for a month with a foot injury. He’ll be charged with being a defensive wing that can shut down opposing scorers and defend the perimeter.
This will be Gee’s 6th team in 7 years, including his second stint in Denver. The Alabama alum was waived after training camp from the New Orleans Pelicans, after playing in half of their games last season. It’ll be a big opportunity for Gee since he’s being brought in primarily for his defensive abilities, which are certainly the strongest part of his game. In his career, he’s averaged 6.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.
