The Jets have struggled yet again this season, but Brandon Marshall isn’t to blame. The star receiver is easily one of the best players on the team, and one of the best receivers in the game right now.
But that didn’t stop rumors from spiraling that the Jets were shopping him around before Tuesday’s trade deadline. Marshall is enjoying himself in New York, and clearly didn’t want to be traded. So on Tuesday night, just as he was about to do an interview for CBS Sports Netowrk, Marhsall panicked when his assistant told him that he’d received an urgent call from the Jets front office. Via ESPN:
“I put my head down and I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m about to get traded,’” Marshall said on the show. “And he said, ‘I just want to let you know, don’t listen to the rumors, we’re not shopping you.’
“I was like, ‘Oh!’ I was about to cry, I was literally about to cry.”
Jets fans should be happy to hear that their star player is so committed to the organization that he almost cried at the prospect of being traded. Hopefully the team can turn things around from their rocky 3-5 start.
