Prior to suffering a surprising beat down at the hands of Goldberg at Survivor Series, Brock Lesnar was seen as an unstoppable force in the business. He had become a one-man wrecking crew in the WWE. In a recent interview with the Sporting News, Paul Heyman made it clear what he believes is in store for Lesnar at WrestleMania 33.
“I think WrestleMania is the easiest one of all. It’s either Brock Lesnar defending the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship or Brock Lesnar taking the WWE Universal Heavyweight Championship.”
Although he suffered a brutal beatdown this past weekend, Lesnar is still one of the top wrestlers in the business. It’s almost a certainty that he will have a match at WrestleMania 33, but the chances of it being a match for the Universal title doesn’t seem likely. He’s a part-time wrestler and the title holders typically are more involved with the company in terms of appearances on a full-time scale.
That said, the WWE has gone that route in the past making the Rock the WWE champion despite him being something much less than a part-time wrestler. If Lesnar were to be in the title picture around that time, then it would certainly make sense to put him in a main event match for the championship. Ultimately, things could change in the coming months leading up to the pay-per-view event.
