Ric Flair Clearly Isn’t Sold On Goldberg’s WWE Return

Earlier this week, Goldberg finally made his return to the WWE after nearly a 13-year absence. He is set to face Brock Lesnar next month at Survivor Series. However, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair isn’t exactly on board with the match just yet.

“The truth is I think Bill would be a nice addition, but, I mean, when you’ve been out of the business as long as he has, here’s the same deal: you’re wrestling Brock Lesnar, brother. That’s not a way to start out. It just isn’t. Do you know what I’m saying? Not that Bill’s fragile by any means, but when you’ve been away that long, your body hasn’t been in the ring, that’s why I say all the time, ‘time off is a wrestler’s worst enemy’. And he [has] been off a long time and to jump in there against Brock who is in peak condition all the time, because of his dual roles, either MMA or professional wrestling, he stays in top shape and I don’t know that Bill has. Bill looks great, but I haven’t seen him in the ring, so it’s a tough call. I think it’ll be interesting for the fans, but I’m glad it’s not me getting in there with Brock. I’ve been there and done that, man.”

It is a tall task to return to the ring after such a long period of time away. Goldberg is sure to have some sort of ring rust regardless of how much training he does over the next few weeks. It’s inevitable that he will be a bit slower, and wrestling Lesnar won’t be any easy job by any means.
The Beast Incarnate is a completely different wrestler than he was when they last got in the ring together 12 years ago at WrestleMania 20. Lesnar has a much more aggressive style that could quickly wear on Goldberg’s 49-year-old body. Although Flair brings up a valid point, it could very well still be an entertaining match between the two legends in the business.
