Throughout the first _ years of his career, Russell Westbrook has had a tremendously successful NBA career. This has earned him the honor of being inducted in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame on Nov. 17. In light of that, Westbrook will receive this prestigious achievement with an introduction by an NBA legend.
“We are truly excited to have Michael Jordan presenting Russell Westbrook, and we are equally fortunate to have a full slate of accomplished presenters joining us at this year’s ceremony,” said Shannon Rich, president and CEO of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum. “They provide us a meaningful opportunity to celebrate this year’s inductees and forward our mission of telling Oklahoma’s story through its people.”
“It’s definitely a huge honor in itself for M.J. to come down to Oklahoma and take part in the Oklahoma Hall of Fame festivities,” said Westbrook in a a statement. “It really means a lot to me that he’s going to be there, and it’s something that I definitely don’t take for granted.”
This should make the experience that more memorable for Westbrook to have Michael Jordan being the one that inducts him. The five-time All-Star likely has this opportunity because of his endorsement deal with the Jordan brand shoe company since 2012. Despite that, Westbrook is very deserving this honor of what he has accomplished in a Thunder uniform.
There is more than just the company connection between Jordan and Westbrook as the six-time NBA champion had stated a few months ago that the 27-year-old’s athleticism reminded him of himself. There has clearly been a personal bond that has developed. All in all, this is something that Westbrook will forever cherish.
