Seahawks DE Was Victim Of The Nerdiest Crime Ever

There have been a string of burglaries targeting NFL players this season. DeMarcus Ware had his Super Bowl ring stolen, and Gerald McCoy’s father was injured during a break in at his home. But the most recent burglary to strike an NFL player has an oddly nerdy twist.

Seahawks Defensive End Cassius Marsh cares about a few things: God, family, football, and Magic: The Gathering. If you don’t know, Magic: The Gathering is a trading card game in which players take the role of a wizard, summoning creatures and casting spells to try and eliminate their opponent. The game has been around for decades, and some of the cards are incredibly valuable. To give you an idea of the value of some of these cards, the Black Lotus card, which was only printed in a limited run back in 1993, recently sold at an auction for $27,000.

Marsh is a collector and a player, and he recently had a $20,000 collection of MTG cards stolen out of his car. He’s understandably upset, and offering free home game tickets to Seahawks games for anyone who can help him track down his collection.

While it’s certainly not the hobby you’d expect from a guy who gets paid millions to smash opposing quarterbacks, it’s still a bummer to see anyone fall victim to theft, especially when something sentimentally valuable is stolen. Hopefully the thief comes clean and gives Marsh his cards back.
