In the last several weeks, the talk around the WWE has centered around the possible return of Shawn Michaels out of retirement for one more match against AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble. It would be a historic scene to have the WWE Hall of Famer wrestle one last time. However, Seth Rollins recently told Gorilla Position podcast that he also wants a piece of Michaels in the ring.
“If he’s ever coming out of retirement it better be at WrestleMania. Kudos to AJ for giving it a shot but he can take a backseat. I would like that match before he gets his hands on Shawn. A lot of people would pay good money to see Shawn and AJ.
“Me and AJ might have to fight it out. Winner gets Shawn.”
This could really get the ball rolling to get Michaels back in the ring. Rollins has provided an interesting solution to make it all work out. WrestleMania has been commonly the stage where past greats make their returns even for one night.
It may be a few years since Michaels last wrestled, but if the WWE were to pursue this match there’s no reason to believe it won’t happen. Judging by the feedback already, there would be a huge demand to see this come to fruition. This is something definitely to keep an eye on.
