A few months ago, the WWE had announced that the company was going to bring back a familiar face in Shelton Benjamin to Smackdown Live. However, he suffered an injury put that possibility up in the air. Benjamin has recently brought clarity to that situation by stating that he will still return to the WWE.
For the record. I will make moves to return to @WWE when I am back to 110% physically. Anywhere from 4 to 6 months by my doc calculation.

Benjamin should be able to return sometime prior to WrestleMania 33 from his recovery from a torn labrum. This should give him plenty of time to develop a storyline on the program to be involved in some sort of fashion at the pay-per-view event. It had been reported that has going to take up some kind of mentor role to American Alpha.
The 41-year-old brings a wealth of experience having been a three-time Intercontinental champion, holding the United States Championship once, and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice alongside Charlie Haas. He could become a contender for the Intercontinental championship. There are plenty of possibilities for Benjamin upon his return.
