Since the brand split, the WWE is only a heavy pay-per-view schedule with each having one per month. With Smackdown Live nearly a month removed from Backlash, the next event will be WWE TLC. According to Wrestling Inc., the program has already announced a major title match.
Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon announced on tonight’s edition of Talking Smack! that WWE Champion AJ Styles will defend his title against Dean Ambrose at the next SmackDown branded pay-per-view, WWE TLC. The bout will be a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.
With John Cena out of the picture for the time being because of his commitment away from the ring, it has put AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose center stage for the company. Ambrose is the primary contender for the belt and has been involved in a growing feud with Styles over the last few weeks. It’s the logical choice to make this match at WWE TLC.
Styles has had an intriguing first title reign that has featured another independent wrestler in James Ellsworth getting heavily involved in the feud. In fact, Ellsworth cost Ambrose his last chance to earn a title shot two weeks ago. With this match now set in stone, it should pave the way to a ramped up feud between the two superstars to build up the bout.
