Before the start of the season, virtually every analyst predicted that Golden State would breeze past opponents and dominate the league. Instead, they’ve been wildly inconsistent, looking unbeatable in one game and getting dismantled the next.
Their most embarrassing loss so far came on Friday when they took on the Lakers, a team in rebuilding mode that most expected to sit at the bottom of the Western Conference. The Lakers looked on fire, and blew the Warriors out so bad that Coach Kerr sat his starters early in the 4th. While dismantling the Warriors, the Lakers also broke one of the most impressive streaks in the NBA.
Until last night, Steph Curry had scored a 3 pointer in 157 consecutive games. It’s been two years since we’ve seen Curry play without scoring from behind the arc, 30 games more than the second longest streak. Curry doesn’t seem too upset about it though:
That was a cool little ride. Would have loved to finish my career making one every game, but hey, start a new one. What was it, like two years? Kind of weird not to make one, but I will keep shooting.”
It’s been a strange start, with only Kevin Durant and Ian Clark shooting above 40% from 3 point range. But Curry will keep shooting, and the baskets will soon follow.
