Steve Adams signed a contract extension off his rookie deal just before the Monday night deadline. The first thing he needs to do with the $100 million contract he just signed is buy a new cell phone.
As it turns out, the reason it took so long to find the deal was because the New Zealand international accidentally dropped his phone in the cold tub. He was completely unavailable during his contract negotiations because he didn’t have a backup phone and his agent couldn’t get in contact with him.
It didn’t work for like the past three days, as stuff was going on. My agent was trying to contact me and stuff, and I was like, ‘I can’t, I’m sorry, I just don’t have a phone.
Adams didn’t seem to mind too much. He’s got a very mellow persona, and he proved that it reamins even when $100 million is on the line.
