It is well-documented about the amount of disdain that Conor McGregor has for the WWE. However, it hasn’t stopped from others talking about it. In light of that, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier may have made the best WWE comparison to him.
“He brings more eyes. I think he’s the anti-hero. He is ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin from 2000,” Cormier told TSN in Canada while promoting his upcoming fight at UFC 206 in Toronto. “The guy that you’re kind of supposed to root against but you want to root for. Everything that he does, before would have gotten people to boo you, but they’ve taken to it.”
“It’s something different than what they’re used to seeing that people love it. I think it’s fun.”
Cormier couldn’t have made a better connection as both embodied the same type of characteristics. They are both first wildly 100 percent raw all the time with unpredictability at every corner. Their only concern is their own well-being and are a thorn in the side for the authority figures.
McGregor has just taken that persona and ran with it further being much more uncensored with his verbiage. There is just a certain lust for them to walk the line, which at the same time it has made them wildly popular. This is something that could certainly something from the WWE that may stick to McGregor after all.
