You Won’t Believe Who Was Originally Scheduled To Beat Brock Lesnar

It has been nearly a week since Goldberg’s stunning defeat of Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series. It has put the wrestling world on its axis in the days following due to how weak Lesnar looked in the ring. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there was another major star originally lined up to beat the Beast Incarnate clean at Survivor Series.

The idea is that there was major equity in Lesnar finally putting someone over clean, a spot always reserved for Reigns, and now they’ve done it and created a superstar with a very limited shelf life.

This would have been in an intriguing storyline as the two had faced off at WrestleMania 31 before Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase and stole the title. Since then, there has yet to be a clean match between the two and this would have been the perfect opportunity for just that. It would have allowed Reigns to look stronger in the eyes of the WWE Universe, who has grown increasingly frustrated with him over the last several months.

However, Goldberg’s return has been huge for the WWE. It has attracted many fans back to the sport. All in all, Reigns could finally get his clean shot at Lesnar at some point down the road but until then this resparked feud between the two wrestling legends is what the company needs most right now.
